Lights Out Films

About

This FAQ was written in 2003. Some of it no longer applies (for instance, I would not like to go out with you) and I have a real job now.. Enjoy anyway.

What gives you the right to tell us what you think about movies and DVDs? Are you some kind of expert or something?
You’re right. I have no place really. I’m just a guy that enjoys movies and stuff. I get paid to write about entertainment for my day job, but I don’t get to review as many movies and DVDs as I’d like. I’ve been watching DVDs since the old school. Back when they were easily $30 a piece and you had to flip them. So there.

What kind of system are you reviewing discs on? I’m asking because I’m highbrow and I want to make sure you’re giving the video grades with high end equipment.
Most people can’t afford high end stuff. Neither can I, although I wish I could. So I’m reviewing on what most people have: a 27” television and a surround sound in a box setup. It works for me and it’s not too expensive. I just make sure my stuff is calibrated and off I go. This site is for the people, man.

What was the first DVD you bought?
Air Force One, which I proceeded to play on my computer, the only DVD player I owned at the time.

What’s your day job?
I wish I could do this full time, but no one has recognized my genius yet. So I make my way through this world by working. How’s that for an answer?

Where did you go to school?
I’m a proud graduate of UC Davis where I majored in English with a minor in Film Studies. During that time I also worked as a cameraman, a ‘professional’ writer/director, and I also took time to shoot my own personal projects. I’m an all around film dork.

What do you look like?
I review movies for a living. You do the math. Actually there’s a link to a picture of me on my blog page if you click around. Why? Do you want to go out?

I’m just asking. Don’t jump the gun.
Sorry. Call me if you get the chance though.
