<description>I didn&#039;t bother to read the entire debate. The Who was dominating the music scene before Zeppelin even formed. Not to mention, &quot;Page wanted to form a supergroup with himself and Beck on guitars, and The Who&#039;s rhythm section—drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle.&quot; It never happened, instead The Who gave Led Zeppelin their title, saying that they would &quot;Sink like a lead zeppelin.&quot; Hence the name.

As great as The Who are, what with their rock operas (Tommy and Quadrophenia &gt; Zeppelins entire career), Deep Purple are the real answer. Deep Purple are the true greatest rock band. They&#039;re more diverse compositional wise in four songs than Zeppelin were with their career. For example...

Strangeways, Lazy, Walk On, Anyone&#039;s Daughter
Ramshackle Man, Fire in the Basement, She Was, Mandrake Root
Rapture of the Deep, When A Blind Man Cries, Child in Time, The Aviator

They released two albums before Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath even formed. They were the first rock band, to my knowledge, that wrote and performed an entire classical piece with a full orchestra, written by their very own organist the master Jon Lord. This was back in 1969. Pretty ambitious for the band to be performing with an orchestra before they even picked up Gillan.

Black Sabbath got things real heavy distortion wise and Tony Iommi invented the riff. They had amazing song-writing skills. Definitely not as diverse though as Led Zeppelin OR Deep Purple. HOWEVER, and let me stress this, Zeppelin were NOT good song writers. In fact, they&#039;ve been sued many times for stealing songs and claiming they themselves wrote them. Not to mention that nothing they do is even particularly spectacular compositional wise, they all sound like pretty one-trick songs to me, aside from a few exceptions. Two riffs in a song is BORING. Zeppelin pretty much always did this, just one fucking thing over and over. Not to mention that all live footage of the bad I&#039;ve seen is laughable at best, with Robert Plant prancing around like a fairy singing in his annoying little whine, Jimmy Page H&#039;ed out playing slopfests that sound like a 18 year old like me, someone that might be nasty some day (www.myspace.com/jonoftheshred), and a bumping rhythm section that was ultimately held back by the other two.

Now watch a Deep Purple concert. Not just a long, sludgy jam, but a spectacle of technical virtuosity and jamming skills. Never a song played the same, with interplay between Ritchie Blackmore&#039;s incredible guitar and Jon Lords epic organ skills. Go look up some of their live shit on YouTube, I assure you they are a far better band in every way possible besides popularity contest, which is a shame because Led Zeppelin are so sub-par.

Musician vs musician wise, it seems pretty easy to who would win.

Jimmy Page vs Ritchie Blackmore - There is no question that Ritchie Blackie completely crushes Page in terms of inventiveness, song-writing skill, innovativeness, and all around technical skill.

Ian Gillan is miles and miles ahead of Plant as a vocalist. His high voice is far better than Plants and insired far more metal bands, such as Manowars singer, Judas Priesdts singer, Iron Maidens singer.

I&#039;d put Ian Paice up there with John Bonham. And Roger Glover is right up there with John Paul Jones. Plus the addition of an organ to Purples rhythm section is the edge I think they have over any rock band this side of the Who.

What about todays Deep Purple, you ask? Steve Morse trumps Page.

Deep Purple &gt; All

<description>all u rappers if ur listenin
none of u my boys try to shine but im glistenin
wrap up the menue stick a fork now we finish em
lookin for a break and a mic now they listenin
snakes try to get me i cant see em but they hissen
bitches want me back there dreamin and missin
pitchin out the line bait hook and im fishin

This is not a lecture; let us consider the contextual texture of the text here? Is it fearfully tearful, frightfully delightful? Oversee the deceitful, replace conceited with meaningful. If a rhyme fits it it, I abruptly bite &#039;em. Post-mortem eyesight immortally survives by prescribed monotheistic rites that I recite over candlelight tonight.

When I look into the mirror
,i dnt like what i see..
i see the face of a sinner,
starin blankly at me

When you see me in ure eyez I seem to start reactin
da onli problem is its just ure heart contractin
in my heart u no ya luv is just refractin
and for now my heart is locked in.
