Lights Out Films

Film List

I think the one thing I’m good at is recommend movies. I don’t think I write about them all that well, but if I know anything about you, there’s probably a chance that I can tell you about a movie that you’ll really like. I’m not tooting my own horn here, I actually have a point. Someone very nice wrote in asking for some movie recommendations. I thought I’d share a portion of the email here.

Documentary:

-Capturing the Friedmans
-Children Underground (Romanian) (very, very sad)
-Bus 174 (Brazilian)
-Lost in La Mancha

Drama:

-City of God (Brazilian) (a great companion to Bus 174)
-The Dreamers (UK)
-In America (straight up, this movie made me cry like a little girl. In a good way)
-The Believer (one of my favorites)
-Thirteen
-May (more of a comedy-horror-drama)

Comedy (sort of):

-Roger Dodger
-American Splendor
-Igby Goes Down

You’ll notice that I didn’t include a lot of big films… I like to tell people about movies that they may have not experienced.

What I’m not good at is spelling. That should be “I think the one thing I’m good at is recommending movies”. I need sleep.
