Shining – A Comedy by Stanley Kubrick

In this genius bit of editing, the trailer from The Shining is re-cut to look like something totally unexpected. In a way, it perfectly illustrates just how misleading a studio can make the advertising for a film. This supposedly originated from a trailer-cutting studio who held an in house competition.

Now, if someone can take Schindler’s List and make it look like a buddy cop movie, they can have my vote.

if there was ever the epitome of deceptive trailer editing, it is the trailer for drowning mona. the trailer was funny, but even 5 years after watching the movie, i still can’t find the proper words to express my sheer and utter disappointment.

  • based on that trailer I would never go see that piece of garbage :)
