Time Wasters
Even though I just bought and started playing the very excellent World of Warcraft (one of those rare cross-platform games that I can play now that I’m a Mac only operation), it’s not that game that’s been keeping me away from the ‘net and all things related to it. No, it’s because I write email to my friends. Long, involved email that takes hours to compose. So, in this day of blogs, Massive Online Role-playing Games, video editors and digital photography, it’s the oldest net-enabled computer technology that has kept my fingers dancing over the keys. That’s so 14.4kbps.
This entry isn’t going to have a point, so feel free to back away at any time. I’m just going to ramble for awhile.
You know that was the modem speed I was using when I first started college? That was fun: learning about MP3s, then spending an hour downloading one shitty P-Diddy song. Though, to my credit, I’ve managed to keep some of those mid-90′s hits and the original MP3s are still on my computer.
So like I mentioned, I’m completely Mac now, and I’m never going back so long as Apple is alive and kicking. As I write this (on a beautiful program, Mac OS only ecto), I’m editing a video over firewire, watching email pop onto my screen in a handy little box and burning a DVD. Everything works, and it works well. No wires either, which I love. I mean, just take a look at Apple’s iCal. It’s the complete antithesis of the Outlook resource-whore. Take a look at Delicious Library and tell me that it’s not one of the best looking, best functioning programs you’ve seen. I need Apple now: Final Cut is the best designed program (second only to perhaps PhotoShop) in terms of functionality and ease of use.
Yeah, this is a worthwhile post.
I’m getting to spend lots of time with people I love. I’m alive and healthy. All seems to be well. I’ll be updating with a few reviews and the like in the coming days. Thanks for reading.
My first modem speed was 2400. Sweet days, and no, I didn’t forget to write in a zero.
I want money enough to buy a Mac, but I’m afraid all of my computer experience is in IBM compatibles. I used to like fitzing with computers, now I see it as an impediment to my life and a pain in the ass.
I might be ready to switch.
I’m not going to argue PC vs. Mac as I’ve been down that sorry and silly road. I have both. I like both.
I might switch to Linux, though.
