Does God Exist?

I’m not going to answer that question. But I was cruising around Amazon.com and I saw an ad for an external site, asking just that question. So I clicked on the link. And here’s the little blurb that awaited me:

Is There A God?
No one can prove to you the existence of God, just as no one can prove to you that Americans walked on the moon. But you still might be able to be certain of His existence…

Oh, okay. I’ll take your word for it. We can’t prove that we walked on the moon?

We always like to ask ourselves “What If”. What if the claims that Jesus made are true? What if… Is it worth it to risk being seperated from God for eternity? Isn’t it at least worth seriously exploring. If we put just as much energy in seeking after the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as we do about our cars, nextels, laptops, chasing women, gettin’ drunk, gettin’ high etc.; maybe…just maybe we would understand a true christian (disciple of Christ) is not a homophobe and so on. Read Romans chapter 1 and Galatians chapter 5. It’s not just one thing but many others that are contrary to God. Your beef is with God not those who bring His message, and if you feel man decided to interject his own wording in there, then study up on the Bible and find out how authentic it is. And use sources on both sides of the fence not just sources that slant to your comfortable position. Only by the power of his Holy Spirit do we have the strength to live a life pleasing to God. You can talk bad about ministry efforts like C28, Christian Rap music and so on, but it doesn’t make God’s Word any less true. Romans 3:23 “We all sin and fall short of the Glory of God”. I know I’m a Bible thumpin’ mindless #@%** whatever, but at least I’ve done my homework for myself and compared other religions against the way of life…Christianity. They hated Christ for his claims…Why should I expect any less than what my Lord received?

    Hebrews 4:12

  • I have no beef with God, simply because I cannot conceptualize an all powerful being. Reading the Bible doesn’t help matters either (nor does quoting help persuade people like me), because generally we think it’s a book written by man, not divinely pushed through the ether.

I’ve done my homework too, reading more about religion, Christianity and spiritualism then I perhaps let on here. I’m interested in it as a conceptual framework, not a way of life. Just as I’m interested in Mormonism, Judaism, Buddhism, and Scientology. It’s fascinating to understand what people believe.

I can’t believe in anything that doesn’t have tolerance for all viewpoints. I can’t believe in anything that attempts to impose its viewpoints on society. That includes all the above religions that I just listed.

The amazing part about all this is that I indeed DO understand you and your viewpoints, I’m tolerant of them, and surely believe you should be able to practice them to whatever extent you see necessary. Yet, you, a Christian, cannot not see the same of me. Cannot be tolerant of my views. You just can’t understand how I can live outside the shining light of Jesus’ love. So who’s intolerant of who?

  • Either way.
1.You die theres no god, who cares its over.
2.You die there is a god , you care very much because your burning in hell for enternity.

  • Christians are not tolerant of other religions because the bible teaches that they are false and a diversion created by satan to lead people away from the one true god , the god of Jacob , Isac, Abraham, and Jesus Christ.

deut. 5:7 You shall have no other gods before me.

This means that no one may worship , honor , or give tribute to false gods. This applies to everyone whether christian, jew, hindu, buhdist, muslim, or atheist. You have to answer to him in the end good or bad.

  • First of all, Christians shouldn’t be the basis for someone BECOMING a Christian. Don’t be ridiculous. I am not a Christian, but not because many Christians are hypocrites (by nature…). I simply do not believe the evidence given. Most people are willing to base their lives off of a few compiled (and very biased) sources from 2000+ years ago, and I am not convinced. Simple as that.

Also, on the topic of tolerance, there is a divide here. Christians are commanded in the Bible to go out and save people. Evangelism is a command, although not directly in the 10 commandments. So, you base your life off of Christianity and you are commanded to spread the word of God. If you believe it to be true, then wouldn’t you want at least all of your friends to go to eternal paradise with you? Sounds like a killer time to me. But that’s only if you believe it to be absolute truth. So being “tolerant” would be like saying, “Yes, I am comfortable with you going to hell. I respect your belief that will send you directly into eternal damnation.” And unless you derive pleasure from the eternal sufferings of others, you would probably want to do something about it. Bottom line, Christians (in their own right) have a good reason for supposed “intolerance,” however annoying it may be.

Also, I found one of these comments by Bob to be pretty funny:

“Christians are not tolerant of other religions because the bible teaches that they are false and a diversion created by satan to lead people away from the one true god , the god of Jacob , Isac, Abraham, and Jesus Christ.”

It’s a funny quote, really. I mean, he made a grammatical mistake in the meaning, but if you take out the prepositional phrase, it reads:

“Christians are not tolerant because the bible teaches that they are false and a diversion created by satan to lead people away from the one true god , the god of Jacob , Isac, Abraham, and Jesus Christ.”

    Peace
