Why I hate Barry Bonds
I know this is a few weeks old. I’ve given it some time to stew. Some time to let the situation play out in the media and see just how legit these charges were. Disturbingly, the charges seem fairly bombproof. But the thing that really set me off was the San Diego opening home game vs. the Giants. On ESPN, no mention of Barry’s troubles, his ass-holiness, if you will, but rather reverence for his supreme skills; the mere steps he is from Ruth’s record.
As it may be clear from my life-long Dodgers fandom, I think Barry Bonds is one of the most awful human beings in existence.
That, and he has a head the size of a prize-winning pumpkin.
I said it here on this very blog, and finally the accusations have gone from the clubhouse to the public.
I’ll save both the ‘woe is the state of baseball’ AND the ‘fans were hypocrites because they wanted more home runs and they cheered this behemoth on.’
I didn’t. I knew that he (or thought that he – I don’t want to get sued here) was a juicer. I knew he was a phony. A liar. A cheat. It’s a small black eye to a sport that’s already in the dumps. Where’s the indignation from the league?
I hate Barry Bonds because he attained his super-stardom by cheating, but most of all because he’s an arrogant prick.

I don’t follow baseball (at all), but I’ve been pretty acutely aware of Barry Bonds’ existence since middle school – didn’t he leave in Bear Creek in Murrieta (or Wildomar, or whatever it’s considered) when we went to Shivela?

As long as you hate every other steroid using baseball bastard, that’s cool. Though he might have gained large-scale stardom, they gained roster spot opportunities and money that was meant for others. People like Armando Rios, Jeremy Giambi, and surely a more than a handful of other smaller name players. Anyway… I look forward to your I hate Mark McGwire post.

Barry did live in Bear Creek for a while. When I was in high school, he once came down to the track to run during the off-season. Some kids at PE noticed him, and naturally asked for his autograph. He was such a dick that he waved them off, and just left instead of signing autographs.

Thank you very much for this site and for the opportunity to gather with other people who hate Barry Bonds as much as I do. In times of incredible political unrest, it’s nice to know we can all agree on the fact that Barry Bonds is an evil, horrible cheater. As to the person who addressed other writers as “crakers,” this has nothing to do with race. Hank Aaron is black, and we all love him and would be devastated to see his record broken by a cheating bastard of any color.

BARRY BONDS RULES!!!! HES THE BEST PLAYER EVER. He for sure defiently gets to start the all star game. he deserves it for how good he is and how hard he worked on getting it.
I grew up in the era of Johhny Unitas, Roger Maris and other class athletes and I just want to go on record that assholes of any race, creed or ethnic origin are still assholes. Ty Cobb was an asshole. So was bobby Bonds. Barry is one of the biggest assholes. It’s a shame when revered records are broken and held by assholes. On the other hand, Barry obviously has some skill with a bat. Without the chemical enhancement he could have been a hitter up there with Tony Gwynn, the greatest hitter I’ve ever seen. Barry, however, chose the low road and chemically enhanced his performance and for that denigrates both the game and any records he holds or will hold. Not to mention the fact that as a person he is a waste of space. Long live the guys who do it naturally and play with heart, not chemicals! Eric Byrnes of the D-backs plays with heart, as do many others on team rosters. They should be the face of baseball, not some steroid-eating lying cheating asshole like Bobby’s boy. Look at Hank Aaron and Tony Gwynn to name just two giants of baseball. I’m glad Tony got a statue. If a statue was erected for Barry, I go by and have my dog piss on it everyday. Aaron and Gwynn are great atheletes who deserve to have a ‘mark’ in the history books, not a steroid taking junkie like Bonds who apparently needs a ‘fix’ everytime he gets up to bat. When Barry Bonds hits 755 and 756 would be most appropriately acknowledged by the fans booing and hurling items onto the field to completely ruin “his moment”. The least Bruce Bochy can do for the national past time is have him surpass the record on the road where the disdain for him is at it’s highest level.
If you put a * by Barry’s homerun record, wouldn’t it also be fair to put an * besides Babe Ruth and Cy Young’s records since they played in the non black and hispanic era of baseball.
PS When the Negro League All Stars barn stormed the major leagues in the 20′s and 30′s more often than not, they beat the major league players. In fact, the Negro League players embrassed the 1927 Yankess at Yankess Stadium in a game.
Therefore, could Josh Gibson, the the Negro Leagues, be the real homerun champ with over 800 homeruns?
