CTU: Not a Good Place to Work

Has anyone noticed just how much torture there has been on 24 of late? Not that I really care. I think it’s great. And even better, more than a few of these people are quite innocent and are tortured anyway. So far that number has reached about four, as far as I can remember. Last night’s episode had three different scenes of three different people being tortured. Torture for all! Woo! Oh well. It works within the story, and it’s always fun to watch.

And all the complaints about Muslims “always” being shown in a negative light on the show is kinda silly. For starters, the first three seasons, as far as memory serves, didn’t even involve Muslims. Oh, some swarthy looking types to be sure, but from what I could remember, it was the kind of thing mostly orchestrated by scary white businessmen and European nationals. Oh, and the Mexican Mafia, but they’re always doing something wrong. Those crazy drug runners. The power of good writing is the ability to make all the characters complex and multilayered. Certainly, some of the Muslims portrayed in the show are down right evil and intent on destroying America. But some of them are also coerced, forced into a situation they cannot control.
